Sitting across from Katie on their first date, Jonathan had his doubts. “I thought Katie was beautiful and very elegant. I was sure she would have zero interest in me,” he recalls. The two had known of each other for quite a while as their parents had been friends for over 50 years. Katie had met Jonathan’s parents, and Jonathan had met Katie’s, but not once each other – their paths never crossing until shortly before their first date.
“I definitely had preconceived ideas about who I thought he was,” Katie admits, “but the minute I sat across the table from him, he had an inherent kindness that really just captured me.”
Though it took years for them to meet, it didn’t take long for them to find a deep connection. Katie and Jonathan were married on a beautiful June day; their wedding a reflection of their joy. It was the talk of the town, and truly a celebration to be remembered.
Katie: Undoubtedly, the ceremony was the highlight of the day and my life thus far. There was something so truly magical about the experience of solidifying your love before your family and friends, and really everyone you know and love from all chapters of your lives intersecting in one moment in time to celebrate this most special of life’s occasions.
Jonathan: The first look was amazing. There wasn’t a standout moment. The entire day was magnificent.
Katie: No advice per se, just simply to enjoy every singular moment as the day truly passes so quickly. Also, to relish the moment with your partner as it is so easy to get pulled in different directions that day saying thanks yous and hellos and goodbyes.
Jonathan: I think I did a good job, I stayed out of the planning as much as possible.
Jonathan: It’s cheesy, but the word “smile” always comes to my mind. Two reasons; first, she has the most amazing smile… Second, no matter what’s happening in my day, I feel relaxed and it brings a smile to my face when I see or think of her.
Katie: Kind. Generous. Love.
